KEEPING IT REAL CHI WITH PATTY MACIAS

My name is Patty Macias. I am a 20 year old Chicana from a south-westside neighborhood in Chicago called Brighton Park. I would say that what defines me is my personality, family and friends. It’s my city, culture and the people I’m surrounded by that defines who I am because they make me who I am. The kind of stories that I want to tell are stories that usually ignored or not told from the perspective of the people that these issues mainly effect. The reason why I want to tell these stories is because I feel like they are obviously very important and I think these people need to be heard. I think what the Chicago Media is missing is the TRUTH when it comes to stories that are put out. The thing I would like to change in Chicago Media would be incorporating more stories written by people of color and of the youth of this city because these issues are mainly effecting the youth of this city.
