Breaking Down Sex Ed in Chicago with ICAH Director

Yamani Hernandez the director of Illinois Caucus for Adolescent Health (ICAH) spoke with Real Chi Youth about the importance of sex education. Hernandez  talked about how ICAH began and how through programs like youth councils they teach youth ages 14-24 about sexual health, rights, and identity. In 2013 llinois passed the Comprehensive Sexual Education Act, which allows schools to teach students aged k-12 about their bodies and sexual health. Teens who receive comprehensive sexual education are 50 percent less likely to have an un-inteneded pregnancy, according to is an organization that helps youth and create social change through campaigns).

ICAH is currently accepting applications for their youth leadership council through Aug. 1.
