I like to tell my story through poetry and spoken words. I believe visual arts is a method that I look forward to using in the near future. As of now I still believe words are the most powerful source of communication.
I like to tell stories that target people’s pain and help set them free from this pain. I love to tell stories that can be considered controversial to society. I like to tell stories that give the world hope and vision. Some examples of pain I feel should be targeted through my stories could be depression, suicide, and loneliness. I had the opportunity to work with high school students last semester and I was surprised to find out how many youth consider committing suicide. These students opened up to me about this and I was blessed to be able to help them with these issues.
I would like to tell stories about the creativity and talent of our youth in chicago and how they may use it in a positive way. I would like to tell stories of the history of beliefs and culture of Chicago and how it has left a mark on youth today. Beliefs and culture would be the christian faith that has made a huge impact on early and modern society and our community. Dancing, rap, and family traditions that has left a mark on our youth today.
