Firehouse Ignites New Vision For Westside Youth

The Firehouse Community Arts Center in North Lawndale was opened four years ago with the hopes of creating a safe space for community youth. Run by the Lawndale Christian Community Church, the spearhead of the Firehouse’s programming and remodeling has been Pastor Philip Jackson. Jackson has been working with youth in Chicago for 20 years.

While still in its remodeling phases, the firehouse will offer free youth programs this fall. The Firehouse welcomes youth ages eight to 20 years old, and aims to be a multicutural hub for its participants.
