Meet Documaker: Hector Montalvo

HectorI am a type of media maker that can see and visualize what I want to report. I feel that the environment that I grew up in can help me reach my aspirations. I mainly focus on using photography to convey information that I connect to, and present it towards an audience. I feel that youth are underestimated compared to the true potential that they have. I want to show that youth can help the communities and the people around them. I hope to explore the injustices that occur among queer youth in Chicago, because I come from a background that I can relate to a personal level.  Summer is a time period of development, so I hope to expand my voice as a writer and as a storyteller in the way I hold to myself as a reporter.
